From 1 April 2014 the Competition Commission is abolished and its functions transferred to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). There will be no further updates to this website after 31 March.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) brings together the Competition Commission (CC) and the competition and certain consumer functions of the OFT. The CMA takes on its full powers and responsibilities on 1 April 2014.

Corporate policies


This section provides details of some of the CC’s key corporate policies and procedures.  These policies support the CC’s overarching governance structure; they also ensure that the CC has systems in place to ensure that:

  • the CC is run in an efficient, effective and economic manner;
  • key risks are effectively managed and mitigated; and
  • key government controls including information assurance, security and Efficiency Reform Group (ERG) controls are in place.
