Economic Roundtables

In October two roundtables were held with academic economists, who were invited on the basis of their relevant work and publications. Details, together with links to transcripts of the roundtables follow:-

9th October 2006 – Roundtable: Local Competition

Professor Howard Smith – Oxford University
Dr Peter Davis – CC member

The CC notes that Dr Peter Davis was part of a team of economists providing advice to Tesco in the Safeway Merger Inquiry (2003) and in the past (more than one year ago) [n.b. the original disclosure had mistakenly stated that Peter Davis had advised suppliers more than 2 years ago] advised suppliers to the Grocers. At the time of the roundtable he was also a member of the Group in the Stonegate Farmers Ltd./Deans Food Group Ltd. merger inquiry.
