Inquiry Manager

£35,000-£48,000

The Competition Commission is seeking to appoint a number of Inquiry Managers at Band B or Band A (from HEO-Grade 7) who will play a key role in liaising with the companies involved in an inquiry, managing the administrative team, supporting the Inquiry Director in keeping to the inquiry timetable and coordinating the activities of a team of professional staff (Economists, Financial and Business Advisers and Lawyers) assigned to the inquiry. Inquiry Managers also play a major part in the collection of evidence and the preparation and drafting of supporting material. The work gives insight into a range of industries and experience in competition issues.

We would be interested in hearing from candidates with strong project management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, good drafting capability, attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure. A readiness to help with more routine tasks in the small team supporting each inquiry is also important.

Legal Researchers / Interns

£18,000

The CC is looking to recruit one or two legal researchers to assist its legal team.  Candidates will have an excellent academic record, a degree or postgraduate qualification in law, and a demonstrable interest in and knowledge of competition/economic regulation.  It would also be of assistance if they could demonstrate an understanding of competition economics.  Researchers will hold fixed term positions of up to six months and will assist permanent staff with work on inquiries. It is anticipated appointments will run from dates in July 2012 and January 2013. 

This is a good opportunity to gather direct experience of the conduct of major public inquiries and the application of competition and public law principles in real world competition cases.

Senior Network and Security Infrastructure Administrator

£35,000-£40,000

The Competition Commission wishes to recruit a highly skilled Senior Network and Security Infrastructure Administrator. The role holder will support the ICT Network and Security Infrastructure Manager by undertaking tasks associated with the development and maintenance of the ICT network and security infrastructure. They will provide “hands on” design, implementation, development, support, maintenance and proactive monitoring of the CC’s ICT network and security infrastructure (including the organisations it provides IT support to). They will also investigate and resolve incidents reported to the IT Service Desk and will be occasionally asked to deputise for the ICT Network and Security Infrastructure Manager in their absence.

The role holder must pass a Security Check (SC) clearance to undertake this role. To successfully gain SC clearance someone must have lived in the UK for at least five years.
